Loffie replaces Chester as Boland boss
Wednesday, November 11
Newly appointed director of rugby Eugene 'Loffie' Eloff said it will be a huge challange to get the Boland Cavaliers back into the Currie Cup competition.
Eloff, a former Golden Lions coach, sacked just before the Lions' match against the touring British & Irish Lions earlier this year, takes over from Chester Williams, who could not save the team from relegation.
Eloff was one of three candidates on Boland's short list along with Nico Serfontein of the Blue Bulls and a former Boland director of rugby, Rudy Joubert.
"We all know that when it comes to raw talent, the sky is the limit for Boland," said Eloff. "All we need to do is to identify the talent and develop it to the best of our abillity."
Eloff said his main aim is to play an important role in SA rugby. "It is pure pleasure if some of your players, like Bryan Habana and Jaque Fourie, become Springboks.
"I'm sure we can do the same for Boland. Obviously I'm sad to hear about the players who have left the union, but I'm confident of making Boland stand up again," he said.
Way to go Boland, hire a sub-standard coach to help your sub-standard union out of the depths of SA Rugby...it seems their not only short on money and sponsorship, BUT on intelligence as well.
I called this weeks ago. Now if only i could carry this form into SuperBru.
