Habana blow hits Stormers
Mar 09,2013
Stormers winger Bryan Habana is set to miss ten weeks after tearing knee ligaments during their impressive 36-34 win over the Chiefs on Saturday.
The Bok was stretchered off in the second-half at Newlands after falling awkwardly in contact and coach Allister Coetzee explained the time-frame.
"Bryan's done his MCL (medial collateral ligament) and, conservatively, he could be out for 10 weeks. He could be back after seven weeks but conservatively I'd say it's 10," said Coetzee.
"When you lose a Springbok and a quality player like Bryan it's never an ideal situation, but we're getting Jaco Taute back and Gerhard van den Heever played very, very well when he came on, and Gio Aplon played just as well so we have enough replacements there.
"We wish Bryan well for a speedy recovery and when he returns he'll be back in the mix, but our focus is fully on the replacements now."
Victory was the Cape Town side's first of the Super Rugby term, taking them up to tenth spot.
