ABs over virus - McCaw
Dec 01,2012
New Zealand captain Richie McCaw has allayed fears that a virus will affect the All Blacks when they face England at Twickenham.
All of the squad bar two were struck down with the illness earlier in the week, but McCaw stated on Friday that although the virus had caused problems earlier in the week, New Zealand would be fit and healthy to face England on Saturday.
The All Blacks are looking to end their season unbeaten with a 13th win at Twickenham, with Dan Carter, Keven Mealamu and Brodie Retallick all returning to the starting XV.
"The guys are coming right now. By yesterday most of us were feeling pretty good, bar a couple. I had a bit of it myself but I feel pretty good today," said McCaw.
"It knocked the stuffing out of a few of the guys. For a day or so the boys didn't have a lot to eat and they were a little ginger yesterday.
"From what I've seen and from myself, we're eating normally and energy levels are back up. Hopefully it won't take too much out of us.
"I know running round yesterday wasn't too bad considering and I feel a heap better today. It shouldn't affect us at all tomorrow."
