Just a quick question, why is there so much chatter on the ruckers forum, but just about no comments on the actual articles on the home page? In the old days there used to 10,20 a 100 comments after an article, and now nobody seems to be bothered. Just a little weird if you ask me.

For some strange reason comments on the site stopped around the time the Board dried up around when the site layout changed. I'll do a comment just to satisfy you :)

@Ek. I first started posting on this site shortly before the change in the layout of the board, and it is true. At that stage there were a lot of people on here. Names I can remember are Paarlbok, Groenbloed, and Rugbygal. I think Paarlbok is posting on PlanetRugby as Oom Paarl or something to that effect. The moment that it was changed to this format, was when everything dried up.

@Ceradyne

You're wrong angel face.

There have been 3 renditions of this site.

The original had tons of article comments but less forum comments.

The second one... The shit one... totally killed everyone. It was some cheap ass Word Press template. I emailed Ed sometime back and he said stats had dropped by 65%

This one however, has picked the back up off the ground. Its design is totally world class. I really dig it here.

Its actually the only site I post on now. It just hits home in a good way. I think its great that it is an independant site... not run by someone like news24 or some other conglomorate.

So usually the articles are not "press versions" but real versions of the stories.

The writers are people... not headline hoggers.

Correct there were a bunch os us around then, Javelin, Greenblood, PB, Stef, RG and all the rest, I still have some contact with them however I have raised it before if they would not want to come back, notihing substantial, however it would be nice if they did come back as we were a nice group that got a long with each other well.

Ja there was a huge screw up with that 2nd version of the site.

It took a huge knock.

But agree with Chip... this version is world class!

Its really good to see some of the old faces back.

Ek...

On the original site... there was an oke with a serious sense of humor. He used to comment on rugga matters in the most hilarious way.

He used to write like long replies... but everyone was in stitches.

You dont remember his name bu any chance do you?

Hi you all! Chippo is right! The change over to WordPress killed it off.  We mailed begged and asked for stuff but they ignored us.  I gave up in the end!

EK don't forget bout Rimmer, Teebs and ZK!  And Leilei!

I remember the guy you speak about, they also had him running a blog along the side a humorios take on the week. I can't recall his name though.

My appologies RG was just rambling off names, wasn't attempting to name all.

I tyhink this nonsense of handbag mud fighting is one of the reasons.  It is just not why I come to the site.  I dislike reading other people's crap - that should be on facebook or some social site.  This should be about sport or more-so about rugby.

But, there are spelling lessons and grammar or descriptive linguistics lessons and then there is the "family" fighting and dragging their dirty washing here.  Why not stick to rugby, or is it because some do not know the game and need to come here to showoff?

@Rugbygal

I was one of the folks that begged for 6 months.

Finally they heard our cries.

Slowly everyone is showing up again...

Well done to Ed for listening!

Good on ya!

Ekke - I think it was Greenblud that made the avators for us.

And I remember because we had posts for when you get to the next 1 000!

Chippo - Not all would agree!  Apparantly I favoured certain players because of their looks!

Maybe couldn't remember who did them , but they where real nice.

Yeah i rememeber the posts for the milestones that came up every now and then, Me and ja ve wen't past our first 1000 though without either one of us noticing, someone else noticed it later and posted it up as I recall.

Chippo don't believe her when she claims not to have favoured some on their looks. She does :)

However that is a girls' prerogative :)

OK, ou Chippo with the chip on thwe shoulder, I did get it wrong then. I was away for some time, and remember coming back one day and notice the current format. I did not even know that there was a different between the one that I was familiar with and the current one. Good on you for "putting me right" ou grote. In any case, the original format, that was in place when I first registerred was the one where we had avatars and the works.

Hard to admit but not Ryan at this stage!  He had a bad year last year and this year full of injuries.  And I think he lost confidence in his game!  They told him  he plays to loose,  when he plays a tight game.  He is not flashy enough!  Lambie I would pick @ 15.  Sorry about Goosen that is injured!  He would have been my 1st choice for 10.  I still don't like Steyn!  But guess he will be our 10 again this year.  I just hope Meyer thinks out of the box and don't pick the old guard again.  And Yes I still don't like Spies!  He got preferred treatment for 4 years while player like Vermeulen never got the opportunity.  And now the poor guy is injured again!

Bluebok makes a point though. The site initially looks devoid of life so some answers to the articles would be a good idea.

Great  to see old faithfuls coming back.

10.000 post rugbygal no wonder your hubby was a worried man!

Hi Ruckers

Looking forward to another bumper weekend of rugby!

It's great to see all the activity here.

We do tend to float in the background looking out for posts worth commenting on...

Thanks for all the compliments Evidently our combined 120 working hours every week is paying off. We love our jobs!

Regarding the avatars, after chatting amongst ourselves over here, we unanimously agree...

Develop avatar module - tick

Allow smileys - tick

...look out for them in the not too distant future.

We appreciate all the suggestions!

Please keep em' coming!

Until next time.

Yours in rugga

Ed

Ed we look forward to the avatars and smileys. To me and probably a number of folk' mobile access is more important. I am able to enter a topic on my mobile but my keyboard does not appear when I want to type a post.
